Armed robbery suspect on loose after Family Dollar store shooting

A man wanted for attempted robbery is on loose after a shooting at a northwest Harris County Family Dollar Store this morning. He is believed to be armed.

Harris County authorities say a man entered the store in the 2300 block of W. FM 1960 at Kuykendahl around 7:35am. He came in through a back door where workers were unloading a truck.

Shopper Ron Casey said, "I believe this man was waiting here to rob this lady because she's the manager that opens the store."

Police say the suspect, gun in hand, ordered the three employees at the store inside the building and tried to tie them up. However, authorities say, a female employee struggled and the man's gun went off, striking her in the back. The other employee got away and eventually called for help.

The suspect fled the scene, and got away with nothing.

The woman was airlifted to the hospital and is listed in good condition while awaiting surgery.

The suspect is described as an African-American male approximately 6'2" and 250 pounds. He was wearing a plaid shirt, dark pants and a green baseball hat. He is wanted for aggravated robbery.
