7-year-old found wandering the streets in Aldine, again

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Cecilia Moran is dealing with a parent's nightmare all over again as her 7-year-old son wandered away from school.

Last Monday, Juan Reseldiz's mother, called ABC13 to tell us he had walked away from school, undetected.

Juan was found by a stranger walking alongside busy Veterans Memorial Drive near Gears Road.

Exclusive surveillance video obtained by Eyewitness News shows Juan running through a parking lot more than a half mile from his school last week.

Juan attends Conley Elementary School which is part of Aldine ISD and his mom says Juan is legally blind without his glasses.

Monday, he was found by a homeless man near a taqueria and she received a call.

This time Moran told ABC13 that Aldine ISD officers warned her that they'd turn Juan over to CPS the next time he left school.

'It's not fair. If he's at school, the school is liable. What if something bad happens at school, then are all the parents liable for that? It's a scary feeling because this is the second time and I'm not going to let it happen no more," said Moran.

Aldine ISD released a statement:
Aldine ISD has been made aware that a first grader walked off campus at Conley Elementary School on Monday. The student was being escorted to class when he suddenly departed the campus. School administrators were immediately alerted and began searching the area surrounding the school for him. The student was found by law enforcement and returned safely to school a short time later. Law enforcement and other agencies, along with Aldine ISD, are working to resolve this issue. The safety and security of our students and staff remains a priority in Aldine ISD. null
