HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A woman is in the hospital after she was found shot in the chest at a bus stop early Saturday morning in southwest Houston, a METRO official says.

Jerome Gray with the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County tells us the 25-year-old woman was found around 3am at the stop at Beechnut and Brae Acres in the Sharpstown area.

The woman was taken to Hermann Southwest Hospital where she was reported to be stable at last check.

Gray says the woman was waiting at the bus stop, but no METRO buses were on their route at that time. The earliest time the bus would get there is about 4am.

Police have a suspect description in this case. They're looking for an African American man wearing a T-shirt. He may have fled on foot.

Authorities say there's no known motive for the shooting.
