HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A high school teacher is under fire, accused of passing out "anti-Muslim" pamphlets to students.

Now the Council on American-Islamic Relations, or CAIR, called for administrators at Foster High School to discipline that teacher.

CAIR claims the unidentified teacher distributed material in class.

The material included claims that "Muhammad was a false prophet" and that Islam is an ideology of war.

CAIR says a parent notified them about the material.

Late Tuesday, Lamar CISD issued the following statement:

"We're disappointed to learn one teacher made independent changes to a lesson plan, resulting in information being given that didn't follow subject matter, or state and local curriculum plans. As soon as this issue was brought to our attention, the administration addressed the situation with the teacher.

"Ensuring our students have access to factual information, given in the proper context, is a priority in our District. Arbitrary curriculum decisions, which are clearly outside of the guidelines, won't be tolerated."
