Child thrown from car dies after crash in Liberty County

LIBERTY, TX (KTRK) -- A 6-year-old girl died in a crash Wednesday morning in Liberty County.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a mother and her daughter were traveling westbound on CR 2814 at about 8am when the mother apparently lost control and hit another vehicle, driven by a 16-year-old, head-on. The little girl was thrown from the car.

She was taken to the Cleveland Emergency Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The girl's mother and the driver of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries.

No charges have been filed at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
