METRO: Bus driver shot in southeast Houston

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Authorities a bus driver is expected to survive after he was shot in the shoulder while taking a break on the job Wednesday night in southeast Houston.

The shooting happened around 9:15pm on MLK and Selinsky.

Authorities say the driver, who was beginning his shift, had just bought a slushy at a convenience store when a male walking down a street with a hoodie approached the driver. That man then shot the driver in the shoulder and ran off.

The bus driver was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital and is expected to be OK.

The suspect fled the scene, and police used K-9 dogs to try and track a scent.

Two passengers on the bus that witnessed the shooting. There is no motive.

No other details were immediately available.
