HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Police have a released sketches of two Hispanic men believe to have raped a 16-year-old girl with special needs back in 2013.

Jeff McShann from Crime Stoppers says the lead detective on this case just couldn't put it down, even after all this time.

The investigator says she had some good leads right after the incident. Police followed up on all of them, but nothing cam up. She didn't release the sketches at the time because she feared it would scare the suspects away.

Police say the 16-year-old girl has the mind of a 5-year-old. She was in the special needs program at Sam Houston. She needs 24-hour care and was with her aid during the assault on January 17, 2013. Somehow she managed to get away from the aid and out of the school. Police say she was walking home and got lost. Two men picked her up, took her to a shed and raped her.

We reached out to HISD, which said this is an HPD case. They are looking into the district's files to learn more about the incident that happened two years ago.
