Wrecks cause total closure of busy Highway 288 at Almeda Genoa

HOUSTON -- Two accidents on opposite sides of the highway forced authorities to close both directions of Highway 288 at Almeda Genoa Tuesday night.

The first wreck was reported around 7:45pm on one of Highway 288 at the Almeda Genoa exit ramp. Soon after, another accident was reported on TranStar on the other side of the highway.

Details of the wrecks weren't immediately available, but according to TranStar, one of them has turned fatal. The wrecks prompted authorities to shut down both sides of the highway.

At 10pm, the southbound side was reopened. The other remained closed.
