KINGWOOD, TX -- Alexia Ardeleanu's legacy lives on through the lives of friends, family and a scholarship that bears her name at the University of North Texas.

Alexia's life was cut short on June 15, 2014 when Brittney Hempel of Kingwood crashed into three cars, one of them Alexia's, waiting for the light to turn green at the intersection of FM 1960 and Farrell Road.

Hempel appeared in court March 3, 2015 where she pleaded guilty to felony intoxication manslaughter and was sentenced to 13 years.

Alexia's parents, Constantin and Bessie Ardeleanu, were on hand for the sentencing and gave victim impact statements in front of Hempel to share who their daughter was and what she left behind.
