HOUSTON (KTRK) -- An arctic front sweeping across the nation is blowing chilly air into Houston, keeping temperatures stuck in the 40s all afternoon. With the strong north wind it feels like it's in the 30s. A few pockets of rain are making it feel even colder than that in some Houston area neighborhoods.

Tuesday morning will be quite cold with lows in the middle 30s. Strong north winds will give us feels like temperatures in the upper 20s. If we get some sunshine, high temperatures will make it to 50. If we don't, temps will stay in the 40s all day.

The coldest temperatures of the week will occur Wednesday morning when a light freeze is likely. Houston will fall to 32 and areas to the north will make it to the upper 20s. The good news is, the cold weather won't last long. Strong south winds will kick in on Friday and boost high temperatures back to the 70s. Those winds will also bring moisture back in and give us some rain next weekend.
