Houston rapper sentenced for forcing teen into prostitution

HOUSTON -- A Houston rapper was sentenced Monday to 10 years in prison for forcing a young teen he met online into prostitution, federal authorities said.

Jeremy Jacobi Scott, a 30-year-old rapper known as J Moe, had pleaded guilty last June to conspiracy to commit sex trafficking of a minor. In addition to his prison sentence, he was ordered to five years of probation after his release and will be required to register as a sex offender.

According to the U.S. Department of Criminal Justice, Scott met the 14-year-old girl via MySpace in 2011 and befriended her. He would pick her up from her home and school and they would drive around town and go to the music studio where Scott would record his rap songs. But one day when the teen asked to go home, Scott refused and instead taught her how to prostitute.

Prosecutors say Scott then photographed the girl and posted her photos on a website known for its prostitution advertisements. The victim claims there was another girl who was also recruited to work for him and that Scott kept both of the money the girls collected.

Investigators eventually arrested Scott following an undercover operation.

Prosecutors say they also used Scott's rap songs were to prove he glorified prostitution.

Scott will remain in custody until he is transfer to a U.S. Bureau of Prisons facility.
