It was 29 years ago today, that the space shuttle Challenger exploded and many of us watched the tragedy on live TV.

The accident happened on January 28, 1986 just 73 seconds into flight. The explosion killed seven crew members, including Christa McAuliffe who would have been the first teacher in space.

NASA paid tribute today, both in Florida and at Arlington National Cemetery, to the Challenger Crew, as well as the crews of Apollo one and Space Shuttle Columbia.
