Apple pie. Sweet potato pie. Pecan pie.

Today is the day to celebrate your favorite type of pie, no matter what it may be.

It's National Pie Day, a holiday dreamed up by the American Pie Council.

The holiday encourages Americans to "pause amidst the hectic pace of everyday life and express their love, gratitude and appreciation for one another, for their blessings, and for the simple things in life."

And enjoy a slice of pie of course.

Some pie shops are even offering discounts across the country to help you celebrate. Here in Houston, Three Brothers Bakery is offering $3 off all pies. You can ask for the discount in stores, or use the code PIEDAY online.

Goode Company also has a special online only offer to help you celebrate National Pie Day. You can get 10% off a Brazos Bottom Pecan Pie at Goodecompany.com by using the discount code PECANPIE.
