TEXAS CITY, TX (KTRK) -- Texas City police say a bicyclist was struck Friday night by a vehicle and dragged a full block before the car stopped. Now as police investigate the victim's death, the search for the driver continues.
Police say 49-year-old Richard Alan Reazin Jr.'s body was found lying on top of a bicycle shortly after 6pm in the parking lot of a bar off Highway 146 and 2nd Avenue S.
Police believe Reazin Jr. either hit or was struck by the vehicle; that vehicle then drove around for a full block before the driver pulled into the parking lot, where Reazin's body was freed.
Officers arrived within three minutes of the accident, but by then, Reazin had already died and the vehicle had already driven off.
Police say Reazin lived about a block away from where he was pronounced dead. They think weather may have contributed to the accident.
Investigators are on scene collecting parts from the bicycle and evidence, including paint chips and glass fragments from the vehicle that were left all over the street. Detectives also are checking nearby surveillance videos to see if the accident was caught on tape.
