3 duck hunters rescued from Lake Conroe

CONROE, TX -- Three duck hunters endured cold water and near freezing temperatures after their boat took on water and sank in Lake Conroe near FM 1375 Friday morning.

New Waverly firefighters and Walker County EMS rescued the three boaters, who were not wearing life jackets when rescue crews arrived, were fortunate that they had been in shallow water when their boat sank.

The boat capsized and sunk on the north end of Lake Conroe, leaving the three struggling to survive in the frigid lake waters, according to Jimmy Williams, public information officer for the New Waverly Fire Department.
