WEST CHESTER, PA (KTRK) -- Three high school football players are facing charges for allegedly assaulting a 14-year-old player with a broom.

Investigators believe the assault was part of what the Conestoga High School team called "No Gay Thursdays."

Chester County District Attorney Tom Hogan says two senior football players held a freshman teammate down while another senior penetrated the player with a broomstick in the team's locker room.

He says there has been a culture of hazing at the Pennsylvania high school for several years.

With "No Gay Thursdays", underclassmen were ordered to undress other teammates or clean the locker room naked, Hogan says.

"You would have an older kid come behind a younger kid and put his genitals on top of the younger kid's head and that was O.K. on Thursdays," Hogan added.

The high school's head football coach has been suspended pending an investigation.
