Two drivers were hurt after a vehicle in a police chase crashed in northwest Houston

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A police pursuit ended with two drivers injured in northwest Houston early this morning.

Police say it all happened around 5:30 this morning when they were responding to a report of a robbery at an apartment complex in the 6400 block of Antoine. Police say when they arrived at the complex, they found the suspect allegedly burglarizing a truck.

Authorities say when they approached him, he fled the scene in a pickup truck and led police on a chase through northwest Houston. He eventually ran over spike strips on TC Jester and blew his tires. However, he continued south onto 34th Street where broadsided a car on 34th Street at Ella.

Both the suspect and the woman in the vehicle he hit were hurt. They were both transported to area hospitals. The suspect has a back injury. The woman he hit is in stable condition.

Some traffic lights and utility poles were damaged in the crash. Police ask the public to use the intersection as a four-way stop until repairs are made.
