Our friends north of the border have a message for us - "America, you're great."

Canadians are taking part in the "Tell America It's Great" campaign started by creative agency The Garden Collective.

Citing negativity brought up during the current U.S. presidential race, the agency came up with this idea and asked their countrymen and countrywomen to send videos on social media using #tellamericaitsgreat.

"The election has exposed some pretty scary realities that will likely challenge them for years to come, regardless of who's elected. They've been bombarded with a tremendous amount of negativity and it's likely that for many of them, the immediate future seems rather bleak," the agency wrote in an essay on Medium.com.

And with the proximity of the two countries, The Garden felt they could help cheer up their southern neighbors - or neighbours, as they put it.

"We thought we should take a minute to help remind them that no matter how bad things might seem at the moment, there are lots of reasons why we think they're still pretty great," the agency writes.

The Garden admits they weren't sure what to expect when they requested these "Tell America It's Great" submissions.

"As we set out, we weren't exactly sure how people would react. After all, America is far from perfect, and one of Canada's favourite pastimes is pointing out those imperfections. But while we definitely had some who declined to share, we were pleasantly surprised by the large number of people who wanted to," the agency says.

In the videos, Canadians talk about their love for American movies, sports, music, food, culture, technology, and more.

"The list of America's positive influence and impact was impressive and when you stop to consider it, you start to realize just how much good they bring to our everyday lives," the agency says.
