Special needs kids compete in Conroe fishing tournament

CONROE, TX (KTRK) -- Fifty children who face mental and physical challenges every day, had a chance to just be kids on Saturday.

The Conroe Noon Lions club held its annual Kids on the Lake fishing tournament for special needs children at Camp Owen, located at the Conroe YMCA.

The children caught fish and turtles off a dock, climbed a Conroe fire truck, canoed with their parents and guardians, observed baby animals, and even went on horse and hay rides.
