HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Meet the new Houston Super Bowl Committee mascot.

This is 'TD' and he'll make his first public appearance at this weekend's Chevron Houston Marathon in the Mascot vs. Media challenge.

TD - whose number is 51 - will represent the game, which will be in Houston next year. He'll serve as an ambassador around the city, making appearances throughout the year, leading up to the Super Bowl at NRG on February 5, 2017.

"TD is one of the many ways we hope to engage local Houstonians and potential visitors to our city and throughout the region," Host Committee president and CEO Sallie Sargent said. "He's going to be a great representative for the Host Committee as we promote our community and generate excitement for hosting Super Bowl LI."

At the marathon, TD will run a relay with three other local mascots - the Astros' Orbit, the Dynamo's Diesel, and the Rockets' Clutch the Bear. Each mascot will run a 6.55-mile leg to complete the marathon and will be racing against four members of the local media, including our own Katherine Whaley.
