Montgomery Co. teen loses part of hand when IED explodes

PORTER, TX (KTRK) -- A teenager in Montgomery County lost part of his hand over the weekend when an IED went off prematurely.

It happened in the Riverwalk area Saturday. According to the Montgomery County Fire Marshal's Office, the 16-year-old victim had created the device and was about to try to detonate it when it went off early.

The teen is recovering but is expected to lose most or all of the injured hand.

No other explosive devices have been recovered, but the investigation is ongoing.
