KATY, TX (KTRK) -- The Katy Tigers didn't just claim the Texas High School title over the weekend. They were named national champs in the MaxPreps Xcellent 25 national football rankings.
Katy went into the championship weekend as the third-ranked team nationally, but their dominant 34-7 win over previously unbeaten Lake Travis vaulted them to the top spot in the country.
Katy wasn't the only school cracking the top 10 national list. North Shore also finished the season at No. 10 nationally after their overtime thriller over Austin Westlake.
Congrats to these two outstanding football programs, as well as George Ranch, which also won a state title over the weekend!
