HOUSTON -- Multiple businesses, organizations, and clubs came together Saturday with the Maverick Saloon and VFW Post 4709 to raise funds for disadvantaged children in Montgomery County.

About 20 riders and 50 attendees came out to enjoy a motorcycle ride and live music for the Salvation Army Angel Tree Program. The registration costs from the bike ride and donations helped the event raise $900 for the children.

"Nowhere near as many showed up as we expected but we still raised $900 and that is $900 more than they had this morning," VFW Post 4709 Commander John Tellier said. "I just want to thank everybody that came and supported the event. All the money goes to help children in the Montgomery County area who wouldn't have Christmas."
