HOUSTON -- Klein Collins High School sophomore Kaitlyn Swaim is a proven champion on the school's swim team but there was a time swimming nearly took her life.

When Swaim was almost 2 years old she wandered outside by her backyard pool. Her mother Kenna remembered wondering where her daughter was and immediately went to the pool.

"She was in the house and the gate between the doors and the pool were knocked open by one of our dogs and she wondered out. I looked at the pool and I started screaming, she was floating on the top of the pool," said Kenna.
