SUGAR LAND, TX (KTRK) -- Sugar Land police are trying to sort out what happened after a 17-year-old allegedly assaulted a teenage girl.

According to police, a 16-year-old girl was assaulted on her way home from school, and she called her father to tell him a 17-year-old had touched her in a sexually inappropriate manner. Witnesses confirm the girl's story, police say.

While driving home, the father spotted the boy, stopped to confront him and he says the teen then hit him in the face. The older man said he then attempted to restrain the younger man until police arrived.

When officers arrived, the younger man claimed he was attacked by the older man.

Police say a class C assault was filed on Scott Niles, 17, for attacking the 16-year-old girl. Due to conflicting stories, the investigation is ongoing regarding the altercation involving the men.
