HOUSTON (KTRK) -- If you've never checked out taxi-alternative Uber, today is your chance to do so for free.

The company is offering free rides to new users in every city where it operates in Texas today. The catch? The free ride is only to and from your local polling place.

Uber decided to offer the free rides to help get people to the polls on election day, up to $15 fare each way.

To take advantage, you'll need to sign up for the service using the promo code TexasVOTES. Then just grab the app for your smartphone and call your ride so you can go vote.

Existing users will have to pay normal fares.
