MISSOURI CITY, TX (KTRK) -- One person is dead and another is hospitalized after a car and train collided Wednesday afternoon in Missouri City.

According to Missouri City police, the crossing arms were down and lights were flashing, but a train was stopped on the westbound tracks off Cravens Road at Highway 90. The driver of the vehicle decided to go around the arms, and didn't realize a moving train was coming from the other direction.

The moving train struck the passenger side of the vehicle, killing a 65-year-old woman sitting in that seat. The 67-year-old driver was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital but is expected to survive.
