Humble ISD, organizations support domestic violence prevention campaign

Humble ISD, Houston Area Women's Center, and others unveiled their digital billboard promoting the Teach Early initiative to prevent domestic violence and violence against women.

HUMBLE, TX -- Representatives from Humble Independent School District, FamilyTime Crisis and Counseling Center, Houston Area Women's Center, Clear Channel Outdoor and members of the media stood in the Humble Plaza Shopping Center parking lot, cameras ready, gazing up at the digital billboard on the morning of Thursday, Oct. 1.

At 10 a.m., the billboard image changed, revealing a public service advertisement for the Teach Early campaign, an initiative that encourages mentoring students and athletes about domestic violence, specifically towards females.

"(Today we) kick-off a very important campaign that we are sponsoring that really shows the importance of teaching early about domestic violence," Lee Vela, vice president of public affairs for Clear Channel Outdoor, said. "We're proud to partner with the Houston Area Women's Center, the Humble domestic violence organization: FamilyTime Crisis and Humble ISD to stop domestic violence before it begins.
