HOUSTON (KTRK) -- All eastbound main lanes of the Katy Freeway were shut down for hours last night near SH-99 Grand Parkway due to a deadly accident involving a pedestrian.

Harris County deputies say the driver of a Toyota was driving on the freeway when a pedestrian stepped out into the moving lanes of traffic.

The driver of the Toyota could not stop in time. The impact caused the adult male victim to go through the windshield of the vehicle.

The driver did suffer minor injures. That driver will not face any charges.

Police are not sure why the pedestrian walked out onto the freeway.

All main lanes of the freeway are now back open.
