Husband and wife found dead in apparent murder-suicide in northwest Houston, HPD says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Houston Police are investigating what appears to be a murder-suicide involving a couple that had been married for more than 25 years.

ABC13 normally does not report on certain situations involving suicide, but we did want to provide a update after new details were released following a tweet from Houston police.

Family members called HPD to the 2200 block of Triway Lane, near Hammerly Boulevard and Gessner Road, around 6:30 a.m. after speaking to the man who lives at the address. He apparently had suicidal thoughts, according to HPD.

Once officers arrived and went inside, they found the man in his 60s and his wife in her 50s in the bedroom, both dead with gunshot wounds.

Investigators said it appears the husband was the one who fired the weapon, though evidence at the scene suggests the couple agreed on the decision together.

"Were there any health concerns or anything like that? Or any financial concerns? I mean, was there an underlying cause for this?," ABC13 reporter Jeff Ehling asked. "We don't know that information at this time. There are notes left by both individuals," Det. Sgt. Blake Roberts said.

Family members of the husband and wife were at the scene, talking to police, as officers continued their investigation. But at this point, police said it appears to have been a coordinated event between the couple.
