Baytown mother of 3 shot and killed in home invasion

BAYTOWN, Texas (KTRK) -- A 40-year-old mother of three was killed in a home invasion early Monday morning, according to Baytown police.

Authorities say a group of four teenage suspects barged into the family home on Alabama Street in Baytown around 2 a.m.

Baytown PD says the suspects first encountered the family's three teenage children, one girl and two boys.

The teens started arguing, waking up the parents.

The couple then went downstairs and confronted the teen suspects, police say.

Police say at some point, the verbal confrontation turned physical.

One of the teen suspects shot the mother, killing her. Police say multiple shots were fired.

Here's a look at the scene where police say a group of teens barged into a home on Alabama St. early Monday morning, shooting and killing a mother of 11.

Police noted one of the teens recognized one of the suspects, however it is unclear what their relationship is.

Authorities do not believe anyone living inside the home was armed.

Baytown PD says home invasions are not common in the neighborhood.

"This is a relatively quiet neighborhood, not a lot of home invasions for sure, so this is kind of a shock to the residents around here I'm sure," Lt. Steve Dorris said.

According to Baytown PD, two persons of interest are in custody.

"We're going to be canvassing this area to see if anybody has some security footage that may have captured anything for us," Dorris said. "But at this point, we don't have anything as far as video or anything like that."
