HOUSTON (KTRK) -- An early morning 18-wheeler accident prompted officials to disrupt METRORail service in Houston.

The disruption affects METRORail red line service between the Northline Transit Center and the Burnett Transit Center.

The trouble began when a big rig struck a utility pole at Fulton St., at Patton St., bringing down power lines onto the METRORail tracks below.

METRO is providing bus service between the stations to ferry rail riders to their destinations.

Repairs to the rail tracks are expected to last through rush hour. There is no word on what caused the 18-wheeler accident.
