Police say they've caught the person who allegedly hit three people waiting at a bus stop in SW Houston

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The driver who allegedly hit three people waiting at a METRO bus stop in southwest Houston is now in police custody.

The accident happened last night in the 5600 block of Chimney Rock at Glenmont near the Fountain Oaks apartment complex.

According to authorities, two drivers were driving west on Chimney Rock when one driver tried to change lanes. The other driver tried to avoid the impact and over corrected, slamming into three people at the bus stop.

One woman and two men were taken to the hospital. The woman is listed in critical condition.

The driver who hit the victims drove away. Officers found the car at Chimney Rock and Westheimer.

"It was a silver Impala that just came and he took out the METRO stop and hit three people. And they just fell and they were just lying there and he just took off," said witness said Jordan Washington. "The car was all damaged. People were trying to follow him, trying to get the license plate. Police came like 5 minutes later."

A K-9 unit was dispatched to the scene to help track down the fleeing driver.

There's no word yet on whether the driver will be charged.
