Man runs with American flag to honor veterans
You may have spotted a man running with the American Flag at your local park or in the Chevron Houston Marathon. Michael Murphy says nothing will stop him from honoring veterans.

HOUSTON, TX (KTRK) -- If you have ever swung by Houston's Memorial Park, you might've seen a man running with the American Flag.

Michael Murphy often runs with Old Glory during packed community races in honor of veterans.

The pandemic has canceled many big events, or turned big races into virtual events. But Murphy said he wasn't going to let social isolation stop him from honoring veterans.

"We could've canceled. We could've said no," said Murphy. " I'm inviting anyone who knows a veteran. Buy a flag. Carry it any distance that you can. Make it an honor flag run of your own."

Murphy ran on this Veterans Day to honor PFC Cody Norris of the United States Army. Norris enlisted just after graduating from La Porte High School, fulfilling his dream in life. He died after an ambush on his unit in Afghanistan.

Today Murphy honored his sacrifice and said, "Today, years after his passing, we remember him, we honor him. By doing so, we keep his memory alive."
