A gas worker is being celebrated for saving lives after an explosion leveled houses in Maryland

COLUMBIA, MD (KTRK) -- A gas worker in Maryland is being credited for saving lives after a house exploded and caught fire Wednesday.

The blast leveled 6 houses.

Moments before the explosion, a gas worker discovered the leak and ran next door where there was a party and yelled for everyone to run.

Just as everyone reached a safe distance, the house exploded.

The gas worker and a neighbor suffered minor injuries.
