Man wanted after allegedly beating child with phone cord

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Crime Stoppers is asking for the public's help to find a man accused of beating a child with a cell phone cord.

Saheed Bale, 46, beat his child because the boy didn't want to eat, according to Crime Stoppers, leaving lacerations on the child's back.

The incident happened on April 24 in the 7900 block of Creekbend.

According to court documents, Bale's son reported the altercation while he was in class at Miline Elementary in southwest Houston, which led to a police investigation.

The child asked his teacher to see the school nurse and complained about back pain. The teacher told detectives she noticed "several long bruises" which "appeared to be several centimeters deep."

Officers said Bale skipped town in May.

CPS has since assumed custody of the child and placed him in foster care. Bale has been charged with felony injury to a child.

"If this guy is willing to hit a kid with a power cord over and over again causing damage," said Jeff McShan with Crime Stoppers. "He's probably going to do it again. We need to get him off the streets."

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $5,000 for information leading to the suspect's arrest. Information may be reported by calling 713-222-TIPS (8477) or submitted online at
