Authorities are looking for a man who tried to kidnap a teen at knifepoint in Cypress.

CYPRESS, Texas (KTRK) -- Harris County Sheriff Deputies are looking for the man behind the attempted abduction of a teen at knifepoint.

It happened in the Coles Crossing subdivision. Deputies said the teen was stopped by a black Ford F-150 at the Closewood Terrace Drive and Ashland Landing Drive around 4 p.m. Sunday.

The driver got out and asked for directions, and deputies say he lifted his shirt, showed a knife and demanded that the teen get in the truck.

The pair drove about a block before the teen was able to escape and get help.

The incident alarmed neighbors enough to have conversations with their children.

"It's kind of creepy I have to tell my daughter what to think about when that happens in a neighborhood like this," Michael Montgomery said. "She goes out for rides and walks by herself and I had to remind her if you feel something immediately happening, you turn and go the other way and you run."

Deputies are still looking for more information. Many nearby homeowners here have surveillance equipment, and investigators are hoping someone caught video of the suspect or vehicle that might help them in this case.

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $5,000 for information leading to the suspect's arrest. Information may be reported by calling 713-222-TIPS (8477) or submitted online at crime-stoppers.org.
