Suspect gets away with robbing cell phone store after striking employee

DO YOU KNOW HIM? When the employee took too long to open the register, HPD said the suspect struck the employee in the head and grabbed whatever loose cash he could.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- The Houston Police Department is asking for the public's help in identifying the man responsible for robbing a cell phone store on the Gulf Freeway last month.

Police just released surveillance video from the incident that occurred March 22 in the 10000 block of Gulf Freeway.

Video shows the suspect walking up to the employee, pulling out a handgun and demanding money from the cash register.

The employee told police the suspect became impatient. That's when the man struck the employee over the head with a pistol.

The suspect then grabbed whatever loose cash was inside the register and ran off.

Police described the suspect as a Hispanic man around 30 to 40 years of age. He stands at about 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs about 240 pounds. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt and blue pants.
