Man wanted after hitting child with bet, causing 'severe pain and injury'
Police are searching for a 28-year-old man accused of striking a child with a belt and buckle multiple times.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Houston police say a 28-year-old man is accused of striking an 8-year-old child with a belt and buckle multiple times.

Todd Chavis struck the child over his head and body last November in the 5300 block of West Gulf Bank Road, authorities said.

He has been charged with injury to a child.

The child experienced "severe pain and injury as a result of the assault."

Chavis was released on bond June 19.
