Man gets in shootout with suspected robbers while bringing in groceries

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A man got into a shootout with thieves who police say were trying to rob him inside his apartment in southeast Houston.

Houston police said the victim was bringing in groceries to his apartment in the 5000 block of Sunflower when he was suddenly surrounded by the suspects.

Gunfire was exchanged, and the victim was hit. He was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive.

It's not clear if any of the suspects were shot.
