Man found dead with stab wounds along feeder in SW Houston
A wrecker driver saw the man staggering on the side of the road and turned around to get help. By the time police arrived, the man had died.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Police are looking for answers after a man was found stabbed to death on the South Loop feeder near South Braeswood.

Around 2:20 a.m. Thursday, Houston police say a wrecker driver traveling westbound on the South Loop feeder spotted a man staggering near the feeder road.

The tow truck driver made a U-turn to go check on the man and found him laying face down in a lane of traffic with a stab wound, according to HPD.

The tow truck driver found police nearby and flagged them down.

By the time police arrived to the scene, the man had died.

Police say the victim appears to be a man in his 40s. Officers think he was staying at a homeless encampment nearby.

"We haven't seen yet, until he gets to the medical examiner, the size of the knife. There wasn't really a blood trail to follow," Sgt. Michael Arrington said. "We can only go based on where the wrecker driver initially saw him walking from, which was from the bridge area just up the road from here. Like I said, there are several homeless encampments there. He does appear to be one of the residents there."

Police want anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers or HPD Homicide.

The South Loop westbound feeder was closed for investigation, but has since reopened.
