A man has been charged with fatally stabbing his mother and injuring his father in west Houston.

Kyriakos Savvas Georghiou, 27, is charged with murder and aggravated assault of a family member.

According to court records, he was already out on bail for allegedly punching the 76-year-old victim in the face earlier this year.

Houston police were called to the 12300 block of Westella Drive around 5:20 p.m. Friday.

Moments before the crime, neighbor, Adela Nugent, saw the son walking down the street.

"I looked at him and his eyes were bulging," Nugent said. "He stared at me all the way down."

She sped away, and couldn't believe the crime scene tape when she returned home.

"It's unreal," Nugent said. "It's really scary to think that if I would have made a wrong move maybe he would've tried to attack me."

Authorities say the father was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

Officers said the suspect didn't offer much when they arrived on the scene.

"He was quiet," Houston Police Department Assistant Chief Wendy Baimbridge said. "He didn't say a whole lot. He did say some things, which I can't release."

Neighbors are wondering if he gave police a motive, because they're all left wondering the same thing.

"Why? Why? The people that raised you," Mike Nugent said. "Why would you do that to them?"
