The incident in question happened at about 10:30 p.m. on Jan. 26 in the 300 block of Tamerlaine, according to Memorial Villages police.
When officers arrived at the scene, they said they found 34-year-old Mitchell Lee Adair had run over his 76-year-old roommate, Michael Francis Lemanski, in front of their home.
Adair is accused of reversing his vehicle at a high rate of speed and running Lemanski over, charging documents state.
According to authorities, Lemanski had initially called police because Adair was suicidal.
"While the complainant was talking with officers, the defendant ran him down with a motor vehicle," documents say.
While officers started emergency aid on the victim at the scene, another officer chased after the suspect through neighborhoods, but it wasn't until Adair approached Gessner that he hit another vehicle. That's when police said they took the suspect into custody.
Lemanski was pronounced dead on his way to a hospital for treatment, police said.
Adair has been charged with manslaughter with a bond set at $350,000. He was scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
