Spice up your LBD for the holidays
A few simple accessories can make your go-to little black dress look completely new for the holiday season.

HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The little black dress -- fondly known as the LBD -- is a woman's wardrobe staple and probably the most versatile piece in your closet. The best part? You can save lots of money in the long run if you get creative. Here's how the little black dress can take you from one party to another this season while still looking fresh.

Three trends are making women merry this holiday: knits, lace, and leather.

"We've had a lot of women coming into the shop asking for faux leather, and we think this is an awesome dress for the season," says Laura Bull, co-owner of Adelaide's Boutique.

This leather sheath is a simple cut and looks great with a high heel bootie for a night out. To head to a casual party, try adding on a shirt with a faux tie in the front. Accessorize it with tights, flat boots, a necklace and jewelry.

Add a plaid jacket in the red family for the holidays. Red and black look great together, and with a flat bootie, a choker around the neck and a little glitz in a longer necklace, you can pull off festively comfortable!

For lace lovers, this season is all for you! There are so many lace options to take you out on the town.

"We love this little black dress. We think it's perfect for the holiday season. It has a great A-line cut, we loved that it has sleeves, little details," said Bull.

It's perfect for a company party or even New Year's Eve, but to step it up a notch, make it more feminine by added a soft jacket, dainty jewelry and a metallic clutch.

For a girl's night gift exchange, give this lace some edge by adding on a faux leather jacket, booties in a burgundy, a cuff, Giving Key necklace, and a colorful earring.

Finally, if you have a dress more like mine, take it from work to the party. My J. Crew A-line cut dress has been tailored the way I want it to fit. The sleeves hit near the elbow, and it's cinched at the waist.

To make this dress more trendy, add a fringe vest in orange. Brown and black looks great together, too, so a caged brown heel with perfect this look.

And for that Secret Santa party, grab a button down shirt, tie it at the waist and add some jewelry. Now your LBD looks like a LBS - little black skirt!

"Just remember, with the LBD, have fun with it. Layer and accessorize," Bull advised.
