HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The Harris County Sheriff's Office bomb squad was called to a Kroger in northwest Harris County after a customer notified authorities of a suspicious device.

The store at 8745 Spring Cypress Road was evacuated during the investigation.

Bomb squad officers checked out the item that was located just outside the front entrance of the Kroger. The area was sealed off until the device was rendered safe.

The item, which authorities have called a 'hoax device', is described as a pipe with wires sticking out.

Authorities remind the public to stay vigilant and always notify authorities if they see something out of the ordinary.
