HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A number of people have gone back to work with the help of ABC13's "Who's Hiring" virtual job fairs, and some of them are now giving back to the community.

"It's been a blessing to me," said Houston Furniture Bank employee Carye Blackwell. "To be able to give back to the community, I really enjoy it."

For a year, Eyewitness News has partnered with Workforce Solutions, which helps match Houston-area employers looking for workers with potential candidates. The virtual job fairs have offered hundreds of open jobs during the pandemic.

"I have the ability to get up every morning and feel good about myself, and it's just a life changing experience," said Blackwell.

Employees Kristoffer Philio and Akene Harper echoed that sentiment, thanking ABC13 for giving them the kick start they needed.

"Just having a job, just being responsible, being able to provide for my family, like everybody else, it's a good feeling," said Harper.

ABC13 is hosting a virtual job fair to commemorate the one-year anniversary of the program on Thursday, April 22, at 11:30 a.m.

To participate, you can watch the live stream on ABC13.com or on your favorite streaming devices, like Roku, FireTV, AppleTV and GoogleTV. Just search "ABC13 Houston."

To preview the jobs, visit the Workforce Solutions website and click on the "As Seen on ABC13" section.
