Investigators can't tell gender of burned body found in woods
Investigators said the body was found in a muddy patch about multiple yards away from the roadway.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Police say a burned body has been found in the woods in southeast Houston.

Houston firefighters responded to reports of a small fire on Wenda Lane around 7 p.m.

When they arrived, they found a body on fire about 20 or 30 yards from the roadway.

A man who lives in a mobile home nearby told investigators he didn't hear anything suspicious before or after the fire.

Homicide investigators said they were unable to determine the gender of the victim.
