Tequila, the celebrated nectar of the blue agave plant.

Its rich tradition is steeped in Mexican history, where the Aztec people and Spanish conquistadors alike began creating the distilled beverage in the 16th century, according to historian Ian Chadwick.

But whereas their toil led to the creation of the very potent party drink, we can fortunately observe International Tequila Day with a short drive to our favorite watering hole, Mexican restaurant or liquor store.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz. Herradura Reposado tequila
  • 1 oz. orange liquer
  • Lime juice
  • Syrup with cane sugar
  • Fresh mango puree with Habanero
  1. Mix the ingredients together in your shaker, and then shake it like nobody's watching. Shake! Shake! Shake!
  2. Pour it out and serve. Salud!

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe avocados
  • Juice of one lime
  • 1 tsp of salt

  • 1 tbsp of tequila
  1. Mash avocados to your desired consistency.
  2. Mix in lime juice and salt.
  3. Mix in one chopped mango
  4. Mix in 1 tablespoon of tequila.

You can substitute additional lime juice for tequila to keep it kid-friendly.
