Climate change threatening polar bear population, group says

The polar bear needs your help.

Today is International Polar Bear Day, and it was started back in 2011 to celebrate and protect one of the world's largest and most threatened land predators.

Polar Bears International began the observation and says the massive bears are threatened by climate change.

Polar bears are found in arctic regions, including Alaska, Canada and Russia.

Annually, sea ice around the North Pole is in decline, affecting quality of life for the polar bear.

Polar Bears International says biologists estimate there are still about 26,000 bears still in the wild. The holiday is meant to raise awareness.
