Teen claims size discrimination by Instagram
A teen says Instagram removed her account after she posted a picture of herself in a bra and boy shorts

CHILLICOTHE, OH (KTRK) -- A teen says Instagram removed her account after she posted a picture of herself in a bra and boy shorts.

Samm Newman admits she's a larger woman.

"I'm a big girl, I'm proud, and I post lots of body love," said Newman.

The 19-year-old said she was bullied throughout junior high and high school. Recently, she found a new source of support: A body positivity movement on Instagram. Newman shared photos of herself in a bra and boy shorts and received many compliments for the way she looked.

"It was my safe place, because when I went there, I could share anything," said Newman.

But this past weekend, Instagram banned Newman's account. The social media site claimed she violated their community guidelines by sharing photos that show nudity or mature content.

"I didn't find them or the bra at all inappropriate. They covered me entirely," said Newman.

Newman now says she's a victim of size discrimination. She points out that there are plenty of photos of thin women wearing much less and sometimes even nothing.

"I've seen pictures like that all over Instagram," Newman said.

Instagram later released a statement saying it was a mistake to remove Newman's account:
